The third element is Physics, the study of the natural world through the Seven Liberal Arts which are, Geometry, Astronomy, Arithmetic, Music, Dialectic, Grammar and Rhetoric.

Jesus, quoted in the Gospel of Thomas, said, "Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up a stone, and you will find me there." We see this statement as an admonition to look for God in Nature.

Through the contemplation and study of the natural world we come to see the inherent divine beauty of the One, or God, in all things. This is a method whereby we come to fall in love with both creature and creator. Jesus taught that the two greatest commandments were to love God, "with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, with all your strength" (these four having a direct correlation to the Quaternary) And to love our neighbor as ourselves. The fulfillment of these commandments is not done merely through a will to obey, but through the discovery of the Beautiful in all things. People have to fall in love and they do so by coming to see the divine in the beloved.

The study of the natural world is also necessary for people to understand how to properly care for the world. The mass of humanity sees itself as mere smart animals, and uses its vast intellectual power to consume every available natural resource.

Ancient writings say that humanity has been given charge to care for the world, and God has granted us intellectual power far beyond all other beings so that we can fulfill our task. With this great intellectual power, however, comes great responsibility, and only when we come to love our world for its divine beauty will we truly be able to perform our work.
